Enforcing the 14 Forces of Magnetism
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, May 15, 2007
Planning and organizing training classes for all levels of staff across the organization is necessary to help create a culture that embodies the 14 Forces of Magnetism. With busy schedules getting in the way, not all staff may be lined up at the door ready to learn. Therefore, to make your training on the 14 Forces successful and exciting to employees, leaders, physicians, volunteers, students, and board members, build rewards into the training plan. Many organizations have found that employees who otherwise may not be motivated to participate in a training session may actually participate when something like free movie passes are awarded as prizes to game winners. The following is a list of ways on how to bring inexpensive rewards into the training plan:
- Stay within your budget by asking local vendors to donate small prizes such as free pizza coupons or grocery store gift certificates
- Consider other inexpensive gifts such as free coffee in the cafeteria for a week or a special parking spot
- Offer recognition by posting the employees' pictures on a "designated experts" bulletin board
