One of the most effective ways of motivating your staff is to demonstrate good listening skills. This leads to clear communication and a better understanding of your staff members' concerns and comments. The following techniques will help you take note as a listener:
- Always acknowledge that you have heard what was said
- Listen with an open mind (i.e., be willing to show flexibility)
- Listen with a sincere desire to understand
- Verbalize that you value the person's input
