Improving quality care
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 17, 2007
St. Vincent Indianapolis Hospital, a 125-year-old hospital that employs 1,500 nurses and is currently applying for ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation, has recently initiated programs to improve quality care both inside and outside of the hospital. To recruit and retain quality, experienced nurses, the hospital created a better work environment for staff nurses by implementing flexible shifts and state-of-the-art lift equipment to keep nurses injury-free. To promote patient safety with student nurses, the hospital has also donated 14 beds and bedside tables to the University of Indianapolis School of Nursing to further nursing students with their in-classroom training, clinical experience, and preparation into the nursing field.
