With the goal of providing flexibility for working students, an Alabama university and medical center are teaming up to provide nurses with Internet-based training.

The Trinity Medical Center and the University of Alabama's Capstone College of Nursing-both in Birmingham, AL-will offer online Bachelor's and Master's Degrees to RNs practicing at Trinity. Students will be able to receive an advanced degree within a year, without commuting to the UA campus.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently awarded the university a $750,000 grant to expand the RN track. The money provided laptops for students to use during the program.
