HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 3, 2007

Akron Children's Hospital has recently achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® status. The hospital successfully completed the application and evaluation process after beginning the process in the fall of 2004. Caring for around 400,000 patients a year, Akron Children's is a full-service, 253-bed pediatric hospital, with a local burn center that is equipped for both adults and children. The hospital has previously been recognized with a NorthCoast 99 "Best Workplaces" award, which is an annual recognition program to celebrate the top 99 greatest workplaces in northeast Ohio. The hospital reports that the nursing staff is excited about receiving designation, recognizing that it symbolizes the hospital's continuing commitment to exceeding in excellence and quality care.
