Hospital president and CEO takes one step down, one step up

The University of Kansas Hospital, the only ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®-designated facility in the state, announced last week that Irene Cumming, president and CEO, will leave her position to become president and CEO of the University HealthSystem Consortium, a leading academic medical organization with 97 academic medical centers and 153 affiliated hospitals. During Cumming's 11 years at the University of Kansas Hospital, the bed size has increased from 275 to 508, and last year it achieved designation. Also last year it ranked number 11 among the nation's 81 academic medical centers in overall safety and quality rankings.
