Models of evidence-based nursing practice
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, March 20, 2007
No one model of evidence-based practice is a perfect fit for all nursing departments and all evidence-based nursing efforts. A healthcare organization may already have established multidisciplinary evidence-based practice groups, and nursing may decide to use a similar model and approach. Another organization may decide to develop its own model or adapt an existing model. Organizations may choose to establish a research council, whose first priority could be to review and evaluate existing models and determine which would be the best fit. This strategy helps council members learn more about approaches to evidence-based practice while choosing a model that will help guide their efforts.
