Vance-Granville Community College and Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson, NC, have launched a new patient simulation center in an effort to boost nursing students' clinical skills and prepare them for the workforce.

The partnership used a $153,565 state community college grant to establish the Allied Health Sciences Simulation Center. The 3,000-square-foot lab features eight rooms containing patient simulators programmed to mimic a range of conditions.

Computers at each simulator bed electronically detect and analyze nursing students' actions to offer instant feedback.
