Miami Dade to offer four-year nursing degree

Staff Development Weekly: Insight on Evidence-Based Practice in Education, February 23, 2007

Florida's Miami Dade College won approval this week for its third four-year degree program - a Bachelor of Science in nursing.

The school plans to accept its first 30 students in the spring of 2008 and eventually enroll a total of 150 at its medical campus near Jackson Memorial Hospital.

MDC began offering four-year education degrees in 2003 and public safety management degrees in 2006, following approval from the Florida Board of Education. There has been a clear need for another nursing program in the state; Florida International University recently received 1,300 qualified applicants for 70 available slots in its standard nursing Bachelor's program.
