Simply stated, leadership is the act of getting goals achieved through other people. Doing so is not always simple. What makes an effective nurse leader? What qualities do they often possess? Successful leadership is dependent on one's ability to inspire confidence

  • show personal interest
  • produce results and quality outcomes
  • inspire, gather, and use employees' ideas
  • lead, rather than "boss"
  • foster teamwork and a sense of community
  • show kindness without being considered "easy"
  • coach staff to reach their potential
