In hopes of improving professionalism and making it easier to identify staff, Hilton Head Regional Medical Center in South Carolina is instituting a dress code for some employees, including the entire nursing staff. Navy or white uniforms will replace the colorful designs that have become so popular on scrubs in recent years.

Many hospitals are making the move to standardized uniforms upon learning that patients have trouble identifying who is on staff.

The cost for the scrubs-about $100 for a set of five, according to The State-will be defrayed a bit with bulk discounts from vendors.
