Make evidence-based practice visible
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, December 5, 2006
Evidence-based practice is an essential foundation for high-performing clinical environments. If a healthcare organization and nursing department values evidence-based practice, they must make those values visible. That is, nurses must see evidence that the organization is committed to using research findings. To do so, organizations must provide the necessary resources, including access to library and electronic resources. Furthermore, an organization must support and create opportunities for nurses to collaborate with a nurse researcher or a nursing faculty member with expertise in nursing research. Additionally, nurses must have time to work on evidence-based projects.
