Signing bonuses, concierge services, and housing are just a few of the creative ways hospitals are trying to recruit nurses. The two John C. Lincoln Hospitals in Phoenix are dialing in a new method.

The hospitals are using a phone bank, featuring nurse-to-nurse chat, to get new nurses interested in the facilities. Two veteran nurses are set to answer questions to help convince potential employees of the benefits of working at Lincoln. The idea is being implemented now because of the fast approaching winter season, which tends to be busier than usual.

Arizona's nursing shortage is more serious than most states, as it claims only 681 nurses per 100,000 people, according to the Arizona Republic. The national average is 782.
