Medical Center and college team up to develop nursing program

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, October 17, 2006

Raritan Bay Medical Center of Perth Amboy, NJ, an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designated facility since 2004, has partnered with Middlesex County College to develop a new associate degree nursing program. Students in the new program will participate in clinical experiences at Raritan Bay. The students will complete 35 credits in nursing, which will be taught by faculty from Raritan Bay, and 35 credits in general education and science, to be taught by Middlesex faculty. The first class of 70 prospective nurses will be admitted in the fall of 2007, and beginning in the fall of 2008, classes will increase to 110. Students will earn a degree from Middlesex County College and graduates will receive their nursing pin from Raritan Bay. The new associate degree program, which can be completed in two years, replaces a Raritan Bay diploma program that had required three years to complete.
