Nation's first designated hospital earns redesignation for a fourth time

The first healthcare organization in the nation to achieve ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation-Seattle's University of Washington Medical Center (UWMC)-has been redesignated for the fourth time. The UWMC staff welcomed ANCC appraisers for the site visit in June, during which appraisers complimented the nursing staff for the excellence they bring to the nursing practice. UWMC is a 450-bed facility located on the University of Washington campus in Seattle, and is one of two major teaching hospitals for the University of Washington School of Medicine.
