Spread the word with internal publications
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, August 8, 2006
To help an organization document evidence-based efforts, take advantage of internal publications, whether print or electronic. Featuring stories about evidence-based efforts and nurses' contributions helps inform the public and staff of what you're doing. In this way, patients and families learn about efforts to improve care, and staff members not involved in the projects learn about how evidence can be used. Likewise, nursing newsletters or nursing annual reports can help disseminate information between various clinical units and get additional staff interested in projects.
Presenting papers or posters about evidence-based or research projects at regional or national meetings offers professional development opportunities. Such efforts also help document evidence-based projects. If it would work in your environment, consider featuring various evidence-based projects within the facility. Display posters in public areas, hold a conference and encourage nurses to participate, or highlight these efforts at other meetings.
