Hospital receives top ranking, again

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 18, 2006

U.S. News & World Report has released its 2006 list of the nation's best hospitals, and once again, an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® hospital has received the top award. The magazine annually ranks the nation's hospitals in 16 specialties, identifying centers that excel at difficult procedures and conditions. This year 5,189 hospitals were evaluated and 176 were ranked. Designation was added to the ranking criteria in 2004. U.S. News & World Report also publishes an Honor Roll to recognize medical centers with particular distinction. The Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, a designated facility since 2003, tops the 2006 Honor Roll, placing first in five of the 16 ranked specialties and in the top four in 10 others. This distinction marks the sixteenth consecutive year that Johns Hopkins has topped the Honor Roll.
