Strive to get the most out of your employees

An instrumental part of being a good manager is getting the most out of your employees on a daily basis. Here are some tips:

  • Express confidence in the employees' ability to measure up to their jobs. Most people need to hear expressions of a job well done.
  • Find the reasons for which an employee is not doing his or her job well and ask what is preventing him or her from mastering the job. Sometimes an employee will express to you that the job is boring and no longer a challenge. This is your chance to show the employee that the job is essential to the total operation of the organization.
  • Check to see whether working conditions are adequate for various job assignments. When improvements are needed, make them quickly-these changes may be needed to improve work output.
