Hospital adopts online technology communication system
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 11, 2006
ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®-designated Edward Hospital and Health Services of Naperville, IL, is in the process of developing new patient, physician, and employee communication and information systems with MEDSEEK, a company that provides healthcare organizations with online content management technology. Edward Hospital says the MEDSEEK technology will enhance workflow efficiencies throughout the organization. For example, the patient part of the new technology will allow patients direct access to their personal medical records, prescription renewals, and provide the ability to schedule and pre-register for appointments online. The physician segment will enhance relationships between patients and physicians and improve communication between hospitals and physician, while reducing paperwork and simplifying workflow. The system will allow secure messaging between patients, physicians, and hospital relations to simplify communication between these parties. The third component of the new technology is an employee portal that will assist in recruiting and retaining employees by including internal job postings, employee recognition, staff directories, document sharing, and benefits information.
