Northwestern Memorial Hospital earns designation

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 27, 2006

Northwestern Memorial Hospital of Chicago earned ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation, making it one of 33 academic medical centers to have achieved the status. "This is an honor that builds on our 'Patients First' mission and recognizes the exceptional work being done every day by our nurses, as well as the caregivers, physicians, and employees who distinguish our hospital as one of the leading teaching hospitals in the nation," said Michelle Janney, RN, PhD, CNAA, vice president, operations and CNE at Northwestern Memorial. Hundreds of leaders and staff across the organization contributed to the documentation and evaluation process, including a three-day site visit by appraisers in May. Northwestern Memorial is the chief teaching hospital of Northwestern University's Feinberg School of Medicine. In addition to earning designation, the hospital received the 2005 National Quality Health Care Award from the National Committee for Quality Health Care and has been listed for six consecutive years in Working Mother magazine as one of the "100 Best Companies for Working Mothers."
