Surefire strategy to exemplify Force of Magnetism 13: Interdisciplinary relationships

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, April 11, 2006

At Centra Health in Lynchburg, VA, the time frame and technique for providing tracheostomy care needed to be updated to reflect current best practice guidelines. The organization assembled a multidisciplinary team including nursing, respiratory therapists, and wound-care specialists to review the best solutions to use for cleaning the peristomial skin as well as the equipment. A decision to modify the policy for changing central-line dressings to include the use of chlorhexidine cleaner was made with input from infection control, IV specialists, and staff nurses.
