Three fundamental steps to build a nursing research program

After Delnor-Community Hospital (DCH) in Geneva, IL, completed its gap analysis, nursing leadership targeted Force of Magnetism 6, quality of care, as one area of focus. In doing so, nurse leaders recognized the importance of building an active nursing research program based on three fundamentals steps. At DCH, the first step included development of a research coordinator position. This role was intended to provide dedicated efforts to foster nursing research within the hospital. To support this effort, nursing obtained a grant to fund the position until they could build it into the next fiscal year budget.
