VHA, Inc. awards hospital 'leadership award' for operational excellence

VHA, Inc., a national network of healthcare systems based in Irving, TX, recently conferred the Medical Center of Central Georgia (MCCG) with its 2006 VHA leadership award for operational excellence for achieving ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation. This award is bestowed upon member facilities that go above and beyond the call of duty to attain excellence, according to online news source theweekly.com. An MCCG executive says that VHA has emphasized the value of designation by including it as a criterion for the leadership award for operational excellence. The VHA also recognized 14 other designated or redesignated members for operational excellence among the 165 organizations that won leadership awards for achievements in the categories of supply chain management, clinical performance, and operational effectiveness. The VHA will present the awards during its leadership conference in St. Louis, MO, on May 21st.
