Baltimore-based applicant implements online scheduling system
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, January 24, 2006
Franklin Square Hospital Center in Baltimore is the first facility in Maryland to implement Web-based scheduling technology to fill shifts organization-wide. The hospital is currently pursuing ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation, and the organization's CNO says that rolling out the online scheduling system to support nurse autonomy and input in staffing and scheduling aligns with the facility's effort to create a designated work environment. The organization is using the BidShiftTM solution to assist with several goals, including eliminating the use of per diem agency staff, ensuring optimal coverage, offering staff more options and flexibility in their schedules, and promoting employee satisfaction and retention. Nurses and ancillary staff can log into the online resource 24/7 from any location to identify available shifts and request shifts that match their skills, experience, and interests.
