Redesignation: Engage staff with a storyboard
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, January 10, 2006
As part of their efforts to maintain staff engagement after receiving ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) designation in 2004, the CNO and project director at The Saratoga Hospital in Saratoga Springs, NY, are creating a tri-paneled, tabletop storyboard to unveil twice annually, once at their employee forum and once during Nurses Week. To keep up the designation momentum, they'll display their councils' achievements (such as activities, research, etc.) and include educational information on designation to help all employees understand what the culture is about.
They also will display various MRP-related articles, review a copy of their first annual interim monitoring report for the ANCC, reflect on conferences that they have attended and those at which they've presented, and highlight the 2006 goals that are displayed in monthly educational flyers that have an "MRP update" corner. They'll also encourage all hospital staff to drop MRP-awareness ideas into a suggestion box.
