Come one, come all! A shared governance information and recruitment fair
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, December 6, 2005
As we ramped up our shared governance councils, we hosted an Information & Recruitment Fair to get direct-care nurses excited and interested in volunteering for one of six councils: nursing clinical practice council, nursing quality and patient safety council, nursing research council, nursing retention and recruitment council, patient education council, and professional nursing development council. Each council had an informational booth at the fair, and several booths featured games and give-away prizes, such as massage gift certificates. We sent staff "tickets" as invitations, served popcorn and cotton candy (made to order from rented machines), and handed out materials such as informational brochures, magnets with the names of all of the councils, and sign-up sheets. The fair took about two weeks to prepare and cost approximately $900.00.
