Indiana's first designated hospital no stranger to technology

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, November 15, 2005

Columbus (IN) Regional Hospital, the state's first ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® status organization, hosted a technology showcase last month to inform the community, including local media and the Chamber of Commerce, about its technological capabilities. Among the new technology used at the hospital is a wireless phone solution that enables nursing and ancillary staff to respond faster and more efficiently to patient needs, according to a hospital official. The new system also provides automated text messages and alerts from various hospital systems (e.g., nurse call system), according to a representative from Ascom Wireless Solutions, the company that designed the technology. Ascom is one of seven companies that Columbus Regional featured at the event. Columbus Regional Hospital is a 225-bed, not-for-profit facility.
