A new master's program in emergency nursing and disaster management will begin next year at Adelphi University in Garden City, NY.
The program, the first of its kind in New York, will teach students how to identify healthcare consequences of natural and manmade disasters, including chemical, biological, and nuclear attacks. Students will also learn how to develop and manage a disaster plan, deliver and evaluate emergency management training, implement a community-based disaster program, deliver care and manage staff during a disaster, and provide physiological and psychological nursing care to victims.
