Seven CVS stores in the Indianapolis area are now home to MinuteClinics, facilities that provide customers ready access to healthcare services without having to make a visit to the individual's doctor's office.

MinuteClinics are staffed by family nurse practitioners who are trained to diagnose, treat, and write prescriptions. The clinics are designed to treat ailments such as strep throat, pink eye, bronchitis, flu and seasonal allergies, and also offer four vaccines: tetanus/diptheria, flu, pneumonia and hepatitis B. Visits take approximately 15 minutes and are covered by most insurance plans.

Since its inception in 2002, MinuteClinic has provided nearly 300,000 patient visits. The Minneaopolis-based company also operates 33 health care centers located in Minneapolis-St. Paul, Greater Baltimore, and Greater Nashville.
