Last month, leading physicians and researchers from around the country launched the Academy on Violence and Abuse (AVA), an academic, healthcare-professional, membership-based organization dedicated to making violence and abuse awareness a core component of medical education.
The organization will promote health education and research on the medical impact of violence and abuse on patients. AVA will also work to develop faculty who are experts in the field so they can educate other healthcare providers.
The newly formed AVA will be headquartered in Minneapolis, MN. For more information, visit the AVA Web site at www.avahealth.org.
