Unit rounds promote clear communication
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, October 18, 2005
A common theme throughout the Forces of Magnetism is a highly visible, accessible CNO who supports staff nurses through many means, one of which is open communication. At Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, the CNO makes unannounced unit rounds as one way to give staff the opportunity to communicate directly with her, says Katherine Riley, MSN, RN, CNA,BC, assistant vice president, operations. During these visits, staff are encouraged to discuss any questions or concerns they have.
