PA hospital system earns designation

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, October 10, 2005

Three hospitals in Pennsylvania's Main Line Health system-Bryn Mawr Hospital, Lankenau Hospital, and Paoli Hospital-recently earned ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation. The system began its journey in November 2002, and successfully completed the site visit in June. Main Line's coordinator says that although her project team included a staff member from each unit, the effort to collect and submit the documents involved many more staff from each of the three hospitals. During the site visit, a team of three appraisers surveyed the hospitals for five days, asking staff RNs about practice issues, quality improvements, and innovations. Organization administrators announced the designation last week after receiving the call from ANCC officials. The three hospitals employ 2,000 RNs and LPNs.
