The Baltimore-based Maryland Patient Safety Center has received the 2005 John M. Eisenberg Patient Safety and Quality Award for Innovation in Patient Safety and Quality at a National or Regional Level, awarded by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the National Quality Forum (NQI).
The Center received the award for implementing a unique and comprehensive statewide approach to patient safety improvement. It did this by bringing together a public-private partnership of healthcare providers and policymakers to study and learn from safety errors. The Center seeks to make Maryland hospitals and nursing homes the safest in the nation.
