St. Peter's Hospital: One organization, two awards

HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, September 13, 2005

St. Peter's Hospital in Albany, NY recently celebrated national acclaim for nursing excellence and patient safety. The organization earned ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation last month, attributing its status success to two concepts: An environment that values nurses as critical members of the healthcare team, and staff involvement in shared decision-making. St. Peter's also received HealthGrades' 2005 "distinguished hospital" award for providing safe patient care. St. Peter's is the only NY hospital that earned the HealthGrades honor for two consecutive years. The hospital held award ceremonies and a reception for staff following the announcements. Thirty nurses on the clinical practice council received special designation pins for championing the two-year application effort.
