Selecting ambassadors
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, September 6, 2005
ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) ambassadors are crucial to establishing and sustaining an MRP culture. When determining how you will identify ambassadors at your institution, consider the advice from Patricia Collins, RN, MSN, AOCN, MRP coordinator, South Miami Hospital in Miami, FL. Appoint MRP ambassadors from the nursing units and other departments within the facility. Keep them updated and ask them for feedback. These ambassadors communicate directly to their units and departments about the journey. They are the "cheerleaders." Make sure the meetings with the ambassadors are fun.
Editor's note: The above best practice is from HCPro's book, HCPro's Guide to Assessing, Pursuing, and Achieving Excellence in the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®.
