Under Force 14: Professional development, ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®-applicant facilities must show an emphasis on orientation, inservice education, continuing education, formal education, and career development, according to Kathy Riley, BSN, RN, assistant vice president, operations, Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, VT. Organizations must also demonstrate how they value personal and professional growth and development. Riley suggests the following examples to include in your application to comply with this Force:

- Cultural competencies
- Professional certification
