Hospital steps up technology, minimizes paperwork

Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) in Hickory, NC, recently launched an online preregistration process for patients. According to a hospital official, this new option will enhance communication between CVMC and patients by giving them greater and more convenient access to the facility. Patients preparing for an in- or outpatient procedure can complete the pre-registration form on the Web and submit it at least three days prior to their visit. CVMC was the 32nd ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® status hospital, earned redesignation from the ANCC in July 2005, and was recently named a Hospital of Choice by the American Alliance of Healthcare Providers.
