New Zealand incorporates designation into recruitment strategy
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, August 23, 2005
United Future, a New Zealand political party, recently unveiled strategies to tackle the long waiting lists and healthcare workforce shortages that contribute to its increasing backlog of surgical procedures. Their goal: To train and retain more health professionals. United Future will focus on providing "first class" working conditions for healthcare professionals as the key to recruitment through accreditation programs such as the ANCC's Magnet Recognition Program®. Another key part of United Future's plan is to support rural health services by introducing the role of "rural nurse practitioner" and establish appropriate practitioner-to-patient ratios to reduce the risk of burnout. United Future is a political party in the New Zealand parliament, which is the legislative body of the New Zealand government.
