When preparing for the Magnet journey, it is important to engage a leadership team to head the process. An initial presentation is a great way to familiarize staff with Magnet and get people involved. Be sure to include in your presentation:

  • history and background of Magnet recognition
  • identification of hospitals in your market that have achieved Magnet status
  • relationship of Magnet to other regulatory agencies/federal reports
  • relevance of obtaining Magnet status to your organization
  • interrelationship between Forces of Magnetism and your organizational initiatives
  • benefits to patients, employees, and the organization
  • costs and economic benefits associated with Magnet
  • how your organization compares to Magnet organizations (in terms of RN turnover, RN vacancy, patient outcome data, etc.)
  • brief overview of needed cultural transformation
