Tips for handling hostile learners

Sometimes trainers have to deal with angry or violent learners. If an incident does occur, practice the following measures when dealing with violent learners:
- Ask them to sit down
- Never allow an angry person to block the exit from the room
- Use a calm, measured tone of voice
- Do not take anger personally
- Listen actively
- Know how to get help quickly
- Report all incidents of violence, whether verbal or physical
