MO hospital hopes designation will help attract staff
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, May 17, 2005
Boone Hospital Center in MO recently achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation and hospital leaders hope to use the honor as a recruitment and retention tool. A hospital official says that the award recognizes the organization's high level of care and the quality of its work environment. Boone Hospital was able to successfully demonstrate staff involvement in decision-making, the role of leadership, and support for career development as part of the program's expectations. The hospital hopes to attract top nurses and other healthcare professionals, such as respiratory therapists, with its new status. After a two-year journey, Boone Hospital is among the state's six designated facility, and the first in mid MO to receive the recognition. Officials honored staff by handing out roses to employees and giving pins to nurses.
