How to prepare for the site survey
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, May 24, 2005
After an organization successfully completes the documentation phase of the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® process, they schedule a site visit by appraisers. To prepare for this survey, send out a message to your employees to let them know that
- unit champions have been identified to assist in escorting the surveyors to the units, but all of the staff are champions!
- any staff member should be prepared to answer questions during the site visit.
- the surveyors will want to talk to staff about patient care, continuing education opportunities, performance improvement projects, staffing, shared governance, management style, orientation programs, quality indicators, and patient safety.
