Event-driven staffing program focuses on patient safety, staff satisfaction
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 14, 2005
AtStaff, Inc., a staff management software developer, created an event-driven workload program earlier this year to help healthcare organizations determine staffing needs across patient care units. The model, AtStaff Advantage(TM), determines staffing workload by calculating the clinical factors and workplace conditions that influence staffing needs. The program helps caregivers evaluate the amount of time required to provide safe, quality care to patients, according to AtStaff. Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL recently implemented the software and hopes it will contribute to enhanced staff satisfaction and retention, as well as aid financial improvements. A hospital official says that by using the program to precisely manage staffing, they will create an environment dedicated to patient safety that will attract quality nurses. Providing high-quality patient care and recruiting top nurses is a part of their commitment to achieve ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® designation.
