A perspective on evidence-based practice
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 21, 2005
Within Force 6: Quality of care, facilities designation must supply seven sources of evidence to demonstrate research and evidence-based practice (EBP). Here's the descriptor for the first source of evidence in this research/EBP section and an example of compliance.
Source of evidence: Describe how current literature, appropriate to the practice setting, is available, disseminated, and used to change administrative and clinical practices (ANCC 2005 Application Manual).
Example: Show that all nurses have access to the Internet on their units, and how they use it to provide the most recent literature for research and patient care purposes.
