Phoenix-based medical center is largest designated facility in state
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 21, 2005
Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center (BGSMC) in Phoenix recently achieved ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® status. According to officials at BGSMC, one reason it earned the designation is its support for staff's professional development. A nursing official said that the effort to achieve designation was multidisciplinary, extending from housekeeping to direct caregivers. BGSMC worked toward the recognition for four years. It is a 673-bed facility that employees more than 3,600 nurses and services approximately 36,000 patients annually.
