Words of wisdom from a designated hospital
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, July 19, 2005
Abington Memorial Hospital, a 508-bed not-for-profit community hospital in Abington, PA, has been an ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® organization since July 2003. Hospital representatives have the following advice for organizations that decide to pursue designation:
- Allow at least six months to write the application
- Delegate narratives and case studies to identified "experts"
- Assign a committee/team to each Force (or Forces) of Magnetism
- Distribute the ANCC's application manual to each team and use a uniformed approach for all of the Forces
- Identify a team to organize a "document room" and manage the document-assembly process
