Create a workshop for your application writer(s)
HCPro's Weekly Update on the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®*, June 28, 2005
Gathering all of the information needed to write the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® (MRP) application requires knowledge of hospital processes and structures. Patricia Collins, RN, MSN, AOCN, MRP coordinator at South Miami Hospital in FL, said that at her facility, there were so many highlights to include in the application, it was hard to bring them together and find the best fit. "We had many innovative things happening around the hospital," she says. The writers' challenge was deciding where to illustrate these creative programs and processes in the application. To help organize their evidence/documentation, the application writers attended retreats to review the standards (Forces of Magnetism). Nursing leadership hosted these events, at which participants brainstormed examples of compliance for each standard (Force).
