In an effort to serve an increasingly diverse patient population, hospitals in Madison (WI) offer several programs to increase workplace diversity. Meriter Hospital partners with the Madison Urban League to train minorities in medical administration. The hospital also offers a minority scholarship program for students pursing careers in healthcare and employs them while they're in school. A summer camp at Meriter offers disadvantaged students the opportunity to explore health careers. Madison's St. Mary's Hospital offers two, $2,500 minority scholarships each year and provides an English-as-a-second-language course.
