The Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (LADHS) has implemented E-learning software to train more than 5,000 learners on bioterrorism and public health awareness. LADHS is one of the nation's largest public health departments, and officials estimate that the new training initiative could potentially reach 90,000 workers. The contract is part of a grant from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for a bioterrorism preparedness program in the LA area. The CDC recognizes education as one of seven focus areas for an effective emergency response plan, and touts online learning as a successful means of workforce training. LADHS chose their learning management system (LMS) based on its testing and assessment capabilities, and the ability to install the system in 60 days. The vendor also implemented the LMS ahead of schedule and within budget.
