Last week we introduced you to our special report, "The state of healthcare training: Current practices and challenges from your peers." This week, we're giving you another excerpt about some of the top training challenges that professionals face in their role as educator. Consider the following question as it relates to your facility, and read on to find out how the trainers in our survey responded.
What is a trainer's biggest training and education challenge?
The answers to this question do not necessarily indicate online troubles. They range from educating staff on new standards/regulations to time management issues. Trainers across the country tackle many difficult aspects of mandatory and continuing education (CE) training. Here is a glimpse at a few of their concerns.
The JCAHO. Educators find it difficult to train employees on the JCAHO's new requirements and the upcoming unannounced survey process.
Participation and time management. Educators hear complaints from clinical staff that they have no time; they are already familiar with the material, etc. Once trainers finally get them in a classroom setting, the space is sometimes limited due to equipment storage or construction restrictions.
Standardized training. From physicians to housekeeping staff, educators need a standardized system of training on issues that affect all hospital staff.
Editor's note: The above excerpt is adapted from "The state of healthcare training: Current practices and challenges from your peers", an HCPro Inc., publication. This special report will be available later this month...details to come!
